Both. Each case shows a distilled summary (case type, key holding, and lesson learnt) and links to the full judgment as a PDF for when you need the complete text for research or citation.

Civil Appeal · Neutral citation not assigned (Civil Appeal No. 2096 of 2007)Decided 6 Feb 2019
Civil Appeal No. 2096 of 2007
Justice Arun Mishra · Justice Navin Sinha

Background

This is a civil appeal filed by the cooperative society (and others) challenging a judgment and order of the High Court that had gone against them, with the respondent being the legal heirs of the original opposite party. The Supreme Court's order itself is a short, final disposal and does not set out the detailed factual background of the underlying dispute between the parties. The appeal came up for final hearing on 6 February 2019 before a two-judge Bench.

Decision Breakdown

The Supreme Court held that no circumstance was found warranting interference with the impugned judgment and order of the High Court. Accordingly, the appeal was dismissed in its entirety, and any other pending applications in the matter were also disposed of by the same order. The order is brief and does not elaborate further reasoning beyond affirming the High Court's decision.

Lesson Learnt

When the Supreme Court finds no legal infirmity in a High Court's reasoning, it will often dismiss an appeal briefly without restating detailed reasons: such a summary dismissal still finally confirms the High Court's decision and ends the litigation on that point.
