Board of Control for Cricket in India v. Cricket Association of Bihar & Ors.
Background
This order does not decide the main case. It is a follow-up order in the long-running litigation on structural reform of the Board of Control for Cricket in India after the Lodha Committee recommendations. By its order of 2 January 2017, the Court had directed that a Committee of Administrators be constituted.
Decision Breakdown
This is not a final decision on the main case. The Court discharged senior counsel Fali S. Nariman from the task of helping to nominate members of the Committee of Administrators, because he disclosed a 2009 engagement for the BCCI that could cause embarrassment. It appointed Anil B. Divan in his place to assist the amicus curiae, Gopal Subramaniam. It also corrected a clerical error in clause 25(i)(f) of the earlier order, which deals with disqualification criteria for BCCI office-bearers.
Lesson Learnt
This order decides none of the appeals. It records only housekeeping steps in the ongoing BCCI reform process: a change of assisting counsel and the correction of one clause.
